I am appalled. Totally appalled. It's not as though we're even short of doctors! How can we have any confidence in organisations such as the GMC when they make such derisory decisions.
EDIT agree totally with kaygee

This decision is plainly wrong and should be challenged in law. This man is incompetent, dangerous and should never be allowed to practise any form of medicine.
The GMC is probably the most reactionary, out of touch trade association/,'professional body'/ trade union in the world.
Its failures to protect the public are legion - Shipman and Roy Meadows are 2 prime examples.
I cannot understand why the Government - no, of course this is the Government which overpays GPs for decreasing work and no out of hours cover, overpays Consultants.....Maybe New Labour is in awe of medics as it is in thrall to wealth.
Perhaps the next lot will demolish the GMC and replace it with an effective body which is more interested in protecting the public than in keeping criminals, fantasists, sexual predators and liars in active membership.

This is nothing new here in the UK, once, we had very stringent medicines inspectorate dept,?not long ago tablets that had been in constant use in the UK were suddenly withdrawn , I know because I was prescribed those tablets and used them for a long time, luckily no side effects occurred,
The questions of safety for patients is mounting here, Hospital admittances, you cannot be sure if you will be discharged with a more serious problem than you had, when first admitted.

The GMC is a joke, I don't know why they bother to exist. They rarely, if ever, reprimand a doctor for anything less than murder.
I was treated (incompetently) by a doctor who had been struck off the register by the GMC, yet, when he was reported for still practising (which is ILLEGAL) they refused to take any action whatsoever.

Disgraceful! I wouldn't want him treating me or anyone I care about. This family have lost a young man who shouldn't have died. He should have been jailed, then struck off. What were the GMC thinking?

It should be challenged and the doctor to get a choice of being prosecuted for manslaughter or deported.

Most Doctors "Bury" their mistakes. Very difficult to prove anything once someone has been cremated.

shocking; the doctor should be tried for manslaughter. But we all know that doctors rally around their own to save their bacon. Just look at Gerry for example.
