Yes. Does he appear to be incompetent..no, he IS incompetent....It’s no wonder the ship is slowly sinking because the captain is turning a blind eye to the water leaking through the holes.......... Illegal War, Referendum Denial, Mis-use of taxpayers money, sponsored pensions raids, filthy hospitals, lack of border controls, illegal party funding, criminal neglegence.....Breathtaking incompetence, arrogance and sleaze! We have an unelected PM at the head of a useless government and a party bursting with gutter politics !We have an empty political system devoid of principles or leadership, a restlessly interfering yet directionless state bureaucracy, an economy going nowhere. Brown, New Labour and the rest of the political class have lost their grip on rather more than a couple of CDs, and Northern Rock is far from the only near-bankrupt institution making an exhibition of itself today.May the ship continue to sink....

I have never bought into the augment that GB was the best chancellor this or any other century. Is there anybody out there who can list ten decisions GB made that made the economy perform better? What he did have was conditions on his side, Maggie Thatcher had sorted out the trade unions, and She had sold off or closed down all those nationalised industries that sucked money out of the taxpayer. She told all those private industrialist “ if your company cannot perform then don’t come looking for Government handout. Maggie Thatcher will be seen by historians as the saviour of the UK
When new labour came to power they already scrape clause, this meant no more nationalisation. Then they climbed into bed with the financiers in the city, they have introduce so many taxes that we now have to work five months of the year just to pay your taxes. You have to work until May each year before you can call you money your own.
Gordon Bean I mean Brown will be lucky to lead the New labour into the next election. If new labour wants to win he will be dump before 2008 is out. If they lose, with him as leader they will dump him anyway. The man couldn’t run a whelk stall, is it any wonder he has never had a proper job.
I say to GB, go, go now, for God sake go.
Incidentally there is nothing less scientific than political science. There more science in kids chemistry set. The salt mines are the best place for political scientists, yeah send them all to Northwich.

Gordon Brown is certainly not incompetent and as Chancellor has proved it: how ever these two positions require different skills.
As chancellor he was mainly a behind the scenes man who could sit back and watch others taking the flak from the opposition benches but as Premier he is the one who has to face criticism from David Cameron and it appears he has not got the skills required, a lot of people who have been second in command have failed the test when moving up into the top job.
Tony Blair was a deceitful premier but most people believed what ever he said, as to who could replace Gordon Brown I don't think the Labour Party has anyone capable of replacing him.

I think that you really ought to rephrase that question- It should read is he only an incompetent leader or is he also captain of a sinking ship.
Frankly, I think he may have his heart in the right place, but non of the politicians have any idea about the problems besetting poorer people. The taxes, hidden and others, have just gone up and up under the consecutive leaders. They think that the military run on WWII lines yet continue to commit it. Sinking, mmm hope they are not relying on the Navy to rescue them.

Every Prime minister when in office is usually classed as what appears to be by the general public as the worst leader we have ever had, and then ten years later they are often looked upon as one of the best, Brown at the end of the day is only human and like all of us will make mistakes time to time, but at least he has the experience to avoid some of the icebergs and rocks out on the ocean of political uncertainty.
I would say, be careful what you wish for, you might just end up with Captain incompetence Cameron who could soon realise that he is out of his depth and might just send us all crashing into the rocks with him.

I believe he is charge of a " top heavy" ship which is starting to keel over. Reminds me of the Ferry which sank; front door open and too much bad news starting to flow in. He may well be a very clever man but I do not believe he has the ability to be a successful PM. The snag he is on the bridge with too many ineffective officers around him. To have a chance he will need to get rid of his deputy and review the progress of a number of his other Ministers. He looks like a little boy who has lost his way.

You mean a lefty like Ed Millibrain, Ed Balls or Alistair Darling? I the entire Labour party is to the left of the comprehensive chief. yet then so too is David Cameron and that unmemorable bloke who 'regulations' the Lib Dems.

I can't see which voters the labour government is actually attracting now. They seem to be out of control as a party and as leader he is ultimately responsible. Yes, he's on the Titanic.
