Yanno, I'm having a bad grammar day. LOL I rewrote this sentence a few times before I actually submitted it and I was correct in my grammar the first time. Sorry. I'm sort of goofy when it comes to incorrect grammar and spelling.

New Mexico does have some good ones---Truth or Consequences being one. Lamy was named for Archbishop Lamy of "Death Comes for the Archbishop" by Willa Cather, so it was for a real person. However, near Truth or Consequences is "Derry-Airy" New Mexico. We also have Pietown and Thoreau. We have "Raton" which is essentially Spanish for mouse. This is a great question. We get used to the names and don't think about them. Everone gets a "thumbs-up."

There's quite a few in Texas. Cities with such names as:

Gun Barrel City, TX
China Grove, TX
China Grove, TX (yep two of 'um)
Canadian, TX
Turkey, TX
Boston, TX
Old Boston, TX
New Boston, TX
Egypt, TX
Notrees, TX
Lawn, TX

But the funniest one of them all HAS to be Cut and Shoot, TX.

I agree...Intercourse, Pa. The Omish live there so that really makes it sound more hilarious. It was in the movie FOR RICHER OR POORER with Tim Allen and Kirsty Alley.
