I am trying to connect to Limewire but can't because of a possible unknown Firewall, help?

ok, I don;t have Norton Anti-Virus I don't have Windowns Firewall I don't have a Wireless internet connection! I just reformated my computer and downloaded and installed LimeWire and it own't connect. Beside thge connection status which still says connecting their;s a FireWall symbol that says "Firewall Detected" WTF?! What Firewall I can't find in anywhere! Like I said I dont have any security Programs that could block it nor do I have a wireless router than coulld have a firewall so..whats my problem btw I always use Limewire!

You have no idea how lucky you are. Limewire is a sewer of viruses and spyware just waiting for your computer to come calling. Since you use no advanced protection, by your own admission, you are taking a major risk in using limewire, not to mention the risk of getting caught and prosecuted. I'm not trying to preach to you, just give you some sound advice. Install and run antivirus and antispyware software before you even think of getting on limewire. Your computer will thank you..............

what I am guessing is that you installed either Windows XP Professional or a form of Windows Vista, more chances on the first option, so there is a high probability that windows defender was installed automatically without your knowledge and that's what's blocking you. Another option is that since you don't have a wireless connection, if you don't have a wired connection either, Limewire might be thinking that a firewall is blocking it when the truth is that you just don't have a connection to the Internet.

I love Limewire and I'm an avid user. If I want to download a music file I use Limewire always. you should get limewire too. It's a good peer to peer software if you have to download mp3, movies, videos or file.
Limewire is a safe and reliable program but like all peer to peer program you have to be careful of what you are donwloading from it. You always have to be cautious about what you download.
Don't use torrents/downloads from other sites, they might be backdoored.

If this only happens with Limewire, Norton is the problem.

Disable Norton and try again, if Limewire connects, check Norton's settings.

limewire rocks! there are viruses and crap but you dont ever download exe files and you can tell which ones are likely bs if you use limewire enough.
you have to turn off firewalls and spyware protection to set it up.i can use my spyware and virus protection while downloading files on limewire.you should be able to also.its a great place to get movies and music.
