if we're ALWAYS talking about "women's" oppression, and their social status, and that male dominant society.......etc,
Haven't you stopped for ONCE and asked about MEN'S OPPERESSION in this "same" society ??!!!!!!!!
let's first admit plz that if the man in the Egyptian society is the domineering in general............but to put in short and in fact, THE WOMAN is the domineering member at HOME !! right ?? ;-) (i don't want to generalize, but really we have the higher authority at home!!! )
Now, let's go to the opposite direction, if the man is acting the role of "sy el sayyed" at home...........then it's the society again that has put him in this FRAME, and sometimes he's obliged to act according to traditions rather than wisdom and even religious teachings !!!!!!
there are more and more examples, want you to discuss it here, and of course wether you agree with me or not !!
** thanks and keen to know your opinions :-)

r u trying to say that men are opressed in our society? I totally disagree with u. the kind of men u might be referring to those who do not have a word inside their own home or those who get beaten by their wives should not be considered men. I do not wanna sound like women are opressed in Egypt or in Islam in general. I think Egypt in particular gives women a lot of rights. I do agree that some men might not be treated fairly, but that is their own fault and our society has nothing to do with it. They gave the right and chance to their evil wives to control them and beat them up and be the man of the house. I do not like it when a man acts as se elsayed neither do I respect a man who lets his wives set all the rules and make all the decisions. Understanding, sharing and communication is the key to starting a successful family

Nada, I'm sorry but I have to ask this ... have you been smoking something or drinking something weird lately?!! hehehe Seriously, I mean where on earth did you get this weird idea?! I have no idea what kind of authority you have at your home, but I am really starting to pity the poor guy who is gonna be your hubby min dilwa2t! looool
I know there are cases of women beating their husbands and men being chopped and packed into plastic bags! lol However, how many cases in return do you see of women being abused, beaten and driven to suicide sometimes because of the oppression of the patriarchal society?! I know I'm going to rave and rant like a lunatic now but I can't help it.
I'm certainly no feminist, but I believe that as long as something as disgusting, savage and outrageous as FGM exists in our society, and as long as even some women themselves are brainwashed into thinking it's OK to commit this atrocity against their daughters women will remain opressed. How can you be free if you don't have control over your own body?! As long as girls get less to eat in Upper Egypt and are forced to stay at home instead of going to school because there isn't enough money and the boy has to come first, I believe women are oppressed. A long as girls are forced into marriages they don't agree to and are sold off like common merchandise I believe women are oppressed. As long as women are forced by husbands who are baltagiya to work and be the bread winner of the family while the idiot husband sits on his sorry @$$ all day and night spending her money and doing nothing (talk to my cleaning lady, she'll tell you all about how she's the oppressor in her home!!) I beleive that women are oppressed. I can go on and on about this but I'm sure you don't wanna hear more.
Now tell me again please ... how is it that men are oppressed in their homes?! For God's sake, even the remote control is in the guy's hand!! lol

Salaam Alaykum, Gross Farah I heard that story too she chopped him up in kept him in the freezer. I have heard from so many people.Domestic Violence is a learned behavior.
Men and women can do it. I have yet to see it from a Muslim but it is a global
problem and does not belong to one society or religion. Tragicly it happens in every country on this earth.

Only few people in this world have the courage of saying the truth even if it is not in their advantage.
Some call them naive, I call them honest.
Edit:
@Ibrahim: dont worry, Ranoush meant "Secerteera Hasnaa" she is just Ladgha fe el H wel A.
heheheheheh. just kidding
those letters replace arabic letters that cannot be pronounced in English like:
Haa : 7, exmpla 7alal or 7aram
Hamaza: 2 example Hasna2
gheen: 3' like 3'areeb
khaa: 7' like 7'araba
and so on you will figure out.

As salaamu 'alaikym warhamtullahi wabaraktuh, my friend.
Insha'Allah, I found myself agreeing wiht you until you reached the point where you said that a person might be obligated by society and custom to behave and/or act in manner that in any way , manner or form might contradict the teachings of Islam, or defy wisdom.
Insha'Allah, one must never behave or act in any way that is contradictory to Islam.
Insha'Allah, yes , society places many men into roles and situations that they are not well abel to fulfill or handle. Such is why we must adhere to Islam and the social and familial teachings of the same.
Ma'a salaam.
Addition:
Will someone please explain why numbers are used in words? Is it a difference in the keyboard or...? Thank you to the person or persons who answer.

Just one point I wanna raise, for now at least, may come back an edit my answer to add more:
Home is the "kingdom" of the wife, and if I want my wife to stay home, especially when we have children, w kaman don't give her the right to practice her right in home as the "princess" or the "queen" of it, then it's me who practice oppression.
