In early October I had an ultrasound done, and the Dr. said that I had a small cyst on my left ovary. He said it looked infected and put me on antibiotics and switched me from Depo Provera to the Nuvaring. I felt better for awhile after taking the antibiotics. Now it's hurting again in the same place, but more of a sharp pain. For people who've had one, how long did your cyst stick around for?

Is it dangerous if a cyst bursts? Would I NEED to go to the emergency room? I don't have insurance!

I know mine hasn't burst yet, because I have a lump around where I figure my ovary is, and it's pretty tender and hurts more when I touch it.

I've had 4 burst and get them every month. It is a sharp pain and extremely painful when it happens. It usually lasts me about an hour. I've had cysts for years. Once they burst they are gone and the doctors can't find anything but if you have recurring ones then more just pop up.

Edit: I've never been to the hospital because they burst. It was diagnosed after the first one burst and then I knew what to expect.

Every time I get one, it burts, and it hurts like hell!!! I've never had one last as long as yours. But I did have one grow to the size of about a walnut. And when THAT popped, oh boy!! That hurt incredibly bad, I was crying hysterically because it hurt so bad. If it keeps up, you should probably go to the doctor. Or take some tylenol/motrin to ease the pain and use one of those warming things, shoot, I forgot what their called.

Hope you feel better!!

They don't usually "disappear." They rupture - which hurts like hell. But when they rupture, there's nothing left but some fluid, so usually then the ultrasound or xray will show nothing. Most of the time you don't even realize you have them until the pain starts. It intensifies until it ruptures. Then it's gone. It's very weird.

No, it's not usually dangerous. It's just very painful. I thought there was something SERIOUSLY wrong with me - like appendicitis, but it was on the opposite side. But after it ruptured, there was nothing. No pain. They're actually very very common.

I might ask those inquiries to my physician, I think simplest she will be able to reply them for you larger than anybody else, due to the fact she is aware of little bit approximately clinical historical past. Every man or woman's frame reacts otherwise to cure.

My daughter had one that actually burst and sent her to the emergency room and they basically discovered NOTHING.
