Other than bartenders, pilots, and politicians, I don't know of any professions that have specific age requirements. However, the education to become a neurosurgeon is a long one. After high school, you need to get an undergraduate degree, which takes four years, then go to medical school for another four years. Then you would have to become a medical resident - I looked up several schools, and seven years as a resident seems to be the norm in this area. That means that even if you were a child prodigy who graduated from high school at the age of ten, you would be twenty-five by the time you became a neurosurgeon. If you graduated at the more standard age of eighteen, you would be 33 by the time you were qualified as a neurosurgeon.

While there is no age requirement besides being an adult, by the time you do medical school, internship, a surgical rotation, and a neurosurgical internship, you're probably going to be at least 30.
