I need to get new tires for a 2002 Chevrolet Tracker. The current tires are 195/75-15's. I am having a hard time finding these tires for a reasonable price. My question is can I put 195/60-15's on this vehicle? These ones are cheap and I can get them anywhere. The other size I have looked at is 65's, these are a good opption as far as money goes, I am just unsure as to what tires I can use.

as long as you have the fenderwell space you can use them...tire sizes work like this 95 is the width in millimeters, the 75 is the depth, it is 75% of the width and the 15 is the rim size.........So you shouldnt have a problem with it because the tire is actuualy smaller....The only thing that may change is that your sppedometer is calibrated for stock tires and will not be completely acurate if you change the size.....Good luck

just ask the dealer if they will work. 195/75-15 is 195 mm wide each sidewall is 75% of that so around 50 mm in inches is about 2 so the top and bottom sidewall plus 15 inch wheel is a 19" tall tire. The 195/60 will be 1/2" or so shorter the 65 if a 195/65-15 will be closer. I would go with the 195/65-15 if it were me and a price difference over the original ones. Car makers put odd sizes on to make you try and buy tires from them or just newer versions. A tire guy will be able to tell you this where you buy your tires.

Yes you can... The middle number can vary a few size increments...Be aware this will effect your speed odometer reading causing it to show a faster speed then you are actually going, Maybe 5mph..The tire you want is slightly smaller in diameter..I assure you it is harmless I've done this for years.. The only thing that is unchangeable is the 15 which is your wheel size.. The 195 can vary by several sizes also.. The 65 is a better choice.. If available a 215/65/15 is a close match... Some stores refuse to put on anything but the original size, just ignore them and choose another or demand they put on what you say

Ask the people at the tire store. They can give you the figures on load carrying capability and make you aware of any handling problems or adverse effects you may have with a different sized tire. Once you have all the facts, you can decide what's best. Although I will say the car manufacturer usually takes all thet into account when they decide what size tire to equip a car with.

You dont exactally need the same stock sized tires - you can go slightly bigger /wider if need be.
Im running a slightly wider and shorter sidewall then stock on my 99 f150 - the difference is practically nill tho .
Id check with a professional tire shop and see if they will fit ( most likely they will).
