You should probably look up the definition of "friend". This person may have been an "acquaintance" with an evil heart. This is a lesson we all learn at some point in our lives. Some people get enjoyment from someone else's pain. But time will tell. This person will be revealed for what they are eventually and will be sorry for their actions. The hard part for you will be to wait. Just try not to let everyone know how bad you feel. Good luck.

People do that because they are selfish. Hopefully this is not a legal issue. The only thing you can do is prove your innocence.

Two things are for sure...#1 This circumstance just saved you a lot of time by determining that this "friend" is a waiste of friendship. Its better you find this out now vs. later
#2 This is something that this "Friend" will regret and long after it has come to pass and you're over it, eventually this "Friend" will see what a bad thing he did and it will haunt him much longer than you'll be troubled by his action.

I hope everything gets better for...Peace and Blessings

a Zen Priest was well known and liked. one day a local girl was found to be pregnant. her parents asked who the father was. instead of naming a local boy who worked at the fish market, she named the Zen Priest. Her parents confronted the Zen Priest and all he would say in response was "Is that so?" He lost his name and reputation. everywhere he went people pointed to him and sneered. when the baby was born the parents took the baby to him and he took care of it. he fed it, housed it, and clothed it. after 1 year the Zen Priest had nothing. no students, no diciples, no temple, no respect. all he had left was a shack and some things for the baby. finally the girl could stand it no longer and told her parents the truth, that the real father was a boy who worked at the fish market. the parents immediately went to the Zen Priest, told him the story, asked his forgiveness, and begged for the baby back. in giving back the baby all the Zen Priest said is, "is that so?".

who know's why people do things, but if someone confront's you with the story, maybe you should just ask, "is that so?"

Some people get their kicks from making others look bad, unfortunatley there isn't much you can do. I wouldn't class him as the sort of person you'd want to be your friend so if I were you, I'd go on being myself as your true friends should believe you.

Truth will always out. Bide your time, you won't be the only one this 'friend' does this to.
On the positive side, you could wait around the corner with a baseball bat..... :-\

It sounds like either they were not your friends to begin with or they were so jealous of you that they wanted to make you look like less of a person than them

There are people who are mean and nasty. This is not a friend. I would have nothing to do with them again.

they are not friends. friends don't set each other up for a fall, then stand back and laugh. Friends catch you when you fall, not push you down the stairs.
