As a teacher, I would prefer to receive something like a gift card to a food place or a manicure/pedicure/facial. Another idea is something for the classroom that the teacher really needs. I am a special education teacher so we are always buying markers, crayons, pens, and pencils. Remember teachers spend a lot on the classroom even the kids (and parents) think "book money" and "taxes" pays for it. These are just a few ideas. There are just so many mugs, candles, lotions that you can store somewhere and we like to keep them all but storage space becomes a problem. A card that the student wrote a small message in can be a wonderful thing to receive! God luck!

I've been a 3rd grade teacher for 5 years and will be honest in giving my answer. While teachers appreciate all the mugs, book bags, pencils, picture frames, etc....we get so many of them over the years. I think that your teacher would probably appreciate a gift card to someplace they might frequent. You could get one to a nearby teacher store, Target, or someplace like that. Even if it's $5, it allows the teacher to use it on what she really wants. If that's a little too much for each teacher, then I would go with the candy route. That would definitely be consumed! Trust me, I feel bad for giving away all the vases, teddy bears, and mugs I've received over the years, but I really have no room for them.

This is what I am doing this year for my son and daughters' teachers.
I bought each teacher a Christmas movie, 3-4 of those big boxes of "movie theater" candy (sno-caps, mike and ike's, whoppers, etc. and a little primative snowman and ornament.
I am putting the gifts in a Christmas basket, throwing in some shredded christmas "grass" and then shrink wrapping the basket.
Kinda beats the ole #1 Teacher gift.

I have always gotten my children's teachers gift certificates for Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks which ever is closest to the school and brought them each a hot cup of coffee and a donut that day as a treat. They have always loved the good quality cup of coffee midday and the sweet treat. I have figured over the years teachers collect gifts from students they hate and at least this one they can actually use and enjoy.

When I was in middle school...haha, forever ago...mom would fix up baskets for the teachers. We bought seven at the dollar store, and filled them up with things the teacher could use for the classroom and herself.
For middle school age, I'd put in protractors, calculators, etc. Candy, gift candles, etc. would be the theme to go with them. When all else fails, cute snowmen always work. : ))

Really what teachers need are gifts cards to a teaching store like "the school box" or to a bookstore. My sister is a teacher and she is always buying stuff for her students at these stores.

i usually get the teachers gift cards, bed bath and beyond
or something. my son just started middle school 6th grade
and they change classes now, so i don't really need to
send anything in for the teachers, i don't think anyone does
in middle school. depends on where you live i guess.
