I am nearly 18 but have a voice that could easily be mistaken for a girls (not camp, just not deep at all). It really knocks my confidence alot and Im quite insecure about it especially around others with deep voices, it makes me feel the odd one out. Im getting quite desperate now, but can't afford to go to voice coaching or have surgery to fix it yet. Any voice experts out there with any tips.

Assuming your testosterone level is normal, you may simply just have a higher than average voice for a male. Your voice is determined by the length of your vocal cords and the shape of your larynx. In that case there are only two fixes, surgery or voice lessons (from a vocal coach). I would reccomend the ladder first.

It is possible to train yourself to use your lower register more when speaking or singing. After a while you will adapt to where you will be most comfortable speaking in that range. Using your "chest voice" (where you can feel vibration in your diaphram) is where you get your low notes from.

Try artificially lowering your voice (slightly) when you speak. You don't want to go down a whole octave because it will make you sound fake. Just take it down a bit to get used to talking in a lower range. The easiest way to train yourself to do that would be to conciously decide to do that whenever you speak on the telephone.

Another thing you can do to extend your natural range is to practice vocal "slides" up to your highest note, then down to your lowest. This is how singers expand their range or prepare for a vocal performance. Do that several times a day and your vocal range will increase slightly (possibly enough for you to speak lower more comfortably).

Your voice will probably get deeper naturally in another year or so. Just because you are nearly 18 doesn't mean your voice can't continue to get deeper. Every boys voice changes when they begin puberty (assuming they are healthy) but most boys have a second voice change around 17-19 that makes their voice go even deeper. I think you'll be fine.

If you want to know a very good vocal coach try to visit https://tr.im/gazua an online vocal coaching tutorial. Everything, ranging from breathing fundamentals, vocalizing exercises, techniques on singing high and low notes, how to not go off-key/out of tune/off-sync, musicianship and music theory, proper diction and articulation, and a lot more are covered, all in our native language. It can be quite technical in nature, but it really helps since it covers the musical aspect of singing deeply and not just concentrates on how to impress people with your vocal range, riffs and runs and other cliches that do not necessarily make one a complete vocalist.

You should go see a doctor. You can't do exercises to make your voice become lower. Testosterone and the size of your voice box are what determines your pitch.

Yeah- leave it alone. Your voice will deepen gradually, and any efforts to make it deeper might damage the cords. You can speak deeper simply by practicing your pitch, and focus on using the lower pitch voice you already have.

Have your Doctor check your TESTOSTERONE levels.
Testosterone is what brings the lower voice..
