I agree with you, Hawaii should be in the title game just like Boise State last year should've been. Right now we are looking at a 1 loss and 2 loss team meeting in the title game. As is the case last year the undefeated team gets ignored due to a supposedly weak conference. Maybe they should redo the conference so that they are more balanced? Other sports have the same problem, just look at have the NFC dominated the AFC in Super Bowl winning like 14 of 16 at one point. People also said USC played in a weak conference, but they were allowed to play for several titles, though 1 of theirs was split...sic

Well, lets see. Hawaii does not deserve at all to play in the National Title game, and I dont believe any team out of the "Big 6" will ever play in the title game under the current BCS rules, nor should they. If Vanderbilt had to play New Mexico St, Idaho, Utah St, and LA Tech, every year, they might actually be bowl eligible every year. Hell, maybe even go undefeated! And, Hawaii still has to beat Washington tonight, an unranked opponent. Last, what has Illinois beating OSU got to do with Hawaii playing at OSU's caliber? Illinois is better than ANY team on Hawaiis schedule. Hawaii will probably sneak into a BCS Bowl (if they beat Washington tonight), and play their first game of the year. After that bowl game, THEN ask why didnt they play in the BCS NC. Youll more than likely have your answer.

Hey... The NBA is the NBA, MLB is MLB, NFL is NFL, NCAA DIVISION 1 Football is NCAA Division 1 Football -- period.
The best kids play Division 1 football. Hawaii is Division 1. Hawaii shouldn't be discriminated against due to geographical distance. Most parents (I'm one) wouldn't let their son go to Hawaii because "I can't get there on a short flight in case of emergency". Other schools won't play them due to PRACTICAL considerations. Don't punish Hawaii.
Over the years, many of their team members are TRANSFERS from bigger programs... thought worthy enough to be given a big-time scholie, but didn't want to RIDE PINE for 2 or 3 years until they were a SENIOR or JUNIOR (as in most big time schools).
Pompus, elitist talk about how "they don't play anybody" is largely that --- TALK. Colt Brennan is the best passer in DIVISION 1 HISTORY. Talented kids with a lot of heart, CAUGHT those passes and made downfield blocks to spring recievers open. Give me an UNDEFEATED, RECORD BREAKING QB in the Championship Game, instead of another 2 loss Division 1 school any day of the week!
The BCS is corrupt. I'm done with it.

OK, I am tired of defending these guys. I am in no way a Hawaii fan nor am I from anywhere near there. I have started to like the team a year or so ago when Brennan came on the scene as big as he did. Probably would have been bigger if he has the exposure that Booty did, or someone else in a national powerhouse.
First, and foremost, it doesn't matter how much you win by a win is a win. (Ask Pitt, they will tell you ) Second, Hawaii tried at the beginning of the season to schedule top 25 teams. Michigan was one of these teams but refused. Coaches simply do not want to subject their team to a flight to the West for fear of jet lag. Teams in the Central and Eastern Time Zone have to go through something like 5 time zones in order to get to Hawaii. This makes it really hard to do anything when you are suffering from jet lag.
There is a solution to this but the schools will have a hard time approving it so I will not go into it right now.
So, with that in mind, there is no way to tell how good Hawaii really is. Again, it doesn't matter who they almost lost to just who actually beat them. Guess that means no one actually beat them. If someone would be willing to go to Hawaii for a home-away series or something like that then we could find out how good they really are.
On a side note of this, Colt Brennan will not win the Heisman because of this. He simply didn't have the opposition to show off his skills which I believe could prove to be just as good as Booty as USC. (Yes, I really do believe this.)

I'm goin to be honest with ya. I wanna give Hawaii some props, but the more I look at their schedule and how they struggled with teams like Louisiana Tech(who LSU beat 58-10 and Cal beat 42-12), San Jose State, Nevada, i just cant make myself give them any respect. Them having the worst strength of schedule in college football absolutely eliminates them from participating in the National Championship. Frankly, they are very lucky to be in a BCS game. O, and Georgia will demolish them. HOLLA>

In no way am I a Hawaii fan but I for one would like to see them play. Yes they went undefeated with a weak schedule, yes more then likely they would get blown out but wouldnt it be worth finding out? Anything can happen, like USC losing to Stanford a 41 point underdog, or a top 5 team in Michigan losing to App State. Even remember a "weak scheduled" Boise State team up-ending Oklahoma last year in the bowl game. Upsets like that make college football brilliant, and gives the kids who play stories of a lifetime.

I'll tell you why Hawaii shouldn't be considered. They're the champions of a weak WAC conference and haven't beaten ANYBODY. I watched them almost lose to my alma mater (Louisiana Tech). It went to overtime and came down to a missed 2-point conversion when Tech went for the win. Later in the season Tech played LSU and lost 58-10. Last night Hawaii played a home game against a Washington team that was 4-7 in the Pac-10 and squeaked out a victory when they intercepted a pass in the closing minutes. It's a shame they're going to take the place of a legitimate team in a BCS bowl. Would everyone please stop this talk about Hawaii being in the championship game???
With the schedule they played, is it too late to have them compete for the 1-AA championship?

You know...really, its sick as **** how everyone still keeps talking about how hawaii plays in a weak conference..etc. A loss is a loss, and a win is a win....it looks the same no matter how you look at it on the record books. sooooo f***** what if they beat "weak" teams. The truth is, they still had to play to win, and some of the other "stronger" teams (Mizzou for example) looked dismal out there like any other "weak" team might be expected to play on a shitty day. Every team loses to weaker teams all the time. so why don't you guys shut your mouths and let everyone play their games.

I agree with Scotty32!!!
We know that Hawaii didn't play a very tough schedule, but
whos fault it that if they called up Michigan, BC, Kansas, and whomever you want to name and those schools said NO WAY! Maybe the NCAA should do something about this....I know they won't because they like all the drama at the end of the year and because they want teams like Ohio St. and Michigan to have weak schedules, so they will be ranked high and get in the good bowl games and make those schools alot of money.

No, Hawaii doesn't belong in the national championship game, and a playoff system would prove it. Who does belong in the national title game? Another question that a playoff would answer. If the NCAA doesn't see the logic in a clear national champion, then the only logical explanation is its all about the money the bowls bring via sponsorship and television ads.
