The Elizabethan era was the period in English history when Elizabeth I was Queen -- 1558-1603. The Jacobean era was the period immediately after that, when James I was King (1603-1625).

For more information on those periods, look up good encyclopedia articles on those two monarchs. (King James I of England was also King James VI of Scotland 1567-1625, which can be a bit confusing.)

Technically we are in an Elizabethian era. I assume you mean Elizabeth I? What kind of things are you looking at? You can pretty much just choose any 5 things and all will be different. For example women s rights, Children's rights, religion and the role of the Church in society, medicine/healthcare, food, leisure, fashions, information, science and technology, travel, family life, education, etiquette...
