I think you just described Santa Claus.
Most people only love him after he has left.
Same goes for Elvis.
Love for me means never wanting to see you go. I miss you when you are with me. I miss you when you are away. I miss you even hen I don't miss you because miss missing you and that is hard to explain but it is none the less real.
But, my answer is I have noone I only love when they are gone. To me that sounds like an enemy and I try not to have those.
So I will leave now so you can love me just the same.

you mean, you have to hide your love from them because he/she can't know you love them? well....almost always, no. unless you are positive it could cause immediate distress or disaster, love always has its chances for blossoming.
if you mean it literally, yes. sometimes, i know it's a little cliche, but it's true, but sometimes, you never know something you loved until it's not available for your love anymore
