I think this means that every slimy, unpleasant, bottom-feeder hopes to one day become something more grand and noble.

The eel, is depicted as being a negative, bad creature. When you look at stories like "The Little Mermaid", the eels are evil.

The whale, on the other hand, is a giant in the sea. Different from all other sea dwelling creature, the whale is a mammal, majestic and grand.

We love to see whales. We have a tendency to avoid eels.

That's just my opinion.

a tadpole turns into a frog,a caterpiller turns into a butterfly,but an eel hopes to turn into a whale, youre haven a laugh, what next, a spider into an octopuss!!

i think most eels are quite happy being eels

I'd say "Rubbish" or "Nonsense".

In psychology, you can call it attribution. One projects to another a quality or trait it does not have instead of admitting that quality in themselves.
