I agree--if I had to pick 2 teams it would be OK & LSU. Ohio State played a weak schedule--Big 10 is down this year, and they don't have a win against the current top 25. Kansas got pummelled last week by Mizzou. You can't let a 2-loss Georgia team in when they didn't win their conference. USC got beat by Stanford. Va Tech lost 48-7 to LSU earlier in the season. Hawaii? They barely beat my alma mater (La Tech) in OT when Tech went for a 2-point conversion and missed. Then Tech lost to LSU 58-10. Washington was 4-7 in the Pac-10 and almost beat them last night at HI. Cmon--please stop the talk about Hawaii--it's a joke. Let's have a playoff!

I believe the 4 teams with the best claim to play for the national title are the winner of the major conferences. OSU, LSU, OK, and USC all won their conference titles undisputed. No other team in their conferences can argue this point. This eliminates Georgia and Kansas.
Since OSU is the only one loss team in this group they will get in. The next highest ranked team among these 4 going into Saturday was LSU. Oklahoma and USC were more impressive in their victories but the SEC is regarded as the toughest conference and probably is from top to bottom. If there was another 1 loss team conference champion among these it would make it simple. But OK and USC just had too much ground to make up. West Virgina knocked itself out and Virginia Tech just won't be able to get past the drubbing they took against LSU.
I like OSU over LSU in the title game. The buckeyes have been more consistent and have the best defense. The Big ten is always hurt in that they play fewer games and are off longer than the other teams. They need to have a Big ten championship game. This year it likely would have been an Ohio State vs Illinois rematch and OSU could have made up for its only loss and been more prepared for the national title game.

Oklahoma and Southern Cal. They are playing the best football RIGHT NOW!!! They won their games at the end of the season (LSU lost just last week) against top quality opponents and they are both conference champions. OU has TWO victories over the number one team!!! and SC has won four straight (two against ranked opponents). They are playing the best football at this point and with the mess that has gone on this season, there is no team MORE deserving than these two. LSU has more victories against ranked opponents but also has more losses to UNranked opponents. Oklahoma and USC should be in the NOLA, but the voters wants to crown LSU national champions and they will screw whomever they have to to make that happen. A strong argument can also be made for Georgia. They are not conference champions, but they are playing some of the best football RIGHT NOW. They would have beat LSU had they played them but Kentucky pissed the game away. Ohio State...I'm a supporter but I don't think they are deserving even though they have four victories over teams that were ranked when they played them.

OU and LSU would make for an interesting rematch (January 2004) but you know in your heart of hearts that the people making that decision right now would rather see OSU and USC play for it all...forget them playing in the Rose Bowl.
All I know is that when it's finally revealed tonight, there are going to be a lot of upset and angry teams and fans all across this country because their team got shafted because there isn't a playoff system in effect.

Who deserves to play...Ohio State and Hawaii! Who will play Ohio State and LSU. The media has loved LSU all year, they want them and now they will get them. OSU played there schedule and won, Washington was ranked when they beat them, Penn State ranked, Wisconsin ranked and Michigan was ranked. A playoff is needed but there is to much politics and $$$ to keep it from happening, The best way to get a playoff is to have every season like this one...total chaos! It makes for great debate (like this) but will always leave a doubt. GO BUCKS!!!!

When LSU beats OSU will Buckeye fans admit to the SEC being the best conference? Somehow I don't think so. I'm just waiting for the excuses to start...

OS and LSU. UG can't go because they are not SEC champ. UG plays for BCS bowl. VT may take LSU spot, but LSU defeated VT 48-7.
BCS is a mess.

even however im a texas fan and hate the two those communities i think of that if hawaii and kansas the two win they could desire to circulate because of the fact they could be undefeated and that they could need to circulate yet whilst they don't the two win then the two communities with ideal win/loss checklist could circulate yet that's merely my opinion

I have analytically developed the top ten based on a semi-sophisticated system. Here's how it works: First, considering all the major conference teams with 2 losses or less, each gets a "-1" score for each loss, and an additional "-1" for each loss to an unranked team, based on the latest BCS rankings. However, score a "+1" for each victory over a ranked team. Based on the resultant Total Score (TS), the team with the highest point total is ranked #1, and so on. Overall # of losses determines tiebreaker if TS is identical. Second tiebreaker if # of losses is identical is composite average of victory(ies) over ranked teams in the BCS. Given this system, the #1 ranked team is Virginia Tech (Losses "L":-2, Losses to Unranked Teams "LTUT": 0, Victories over ranked teams "VORT": +3 w. composite avg. rank of "CAR" 16.7). This gives them resultant TS of +1, which is higher than all the other teams (Hawaii's +1 and perfect record can't earn them any spot in top nine because they only played one ranked team, and had an overwhelmingly weak schedule overall)
#2 ranking goes to OSU (yes I am an OSU fan, but I developed this system unbiasedly and just let the outcome judge for itself): (L= -1, LTUT = 0, VORT = +1, CAR = 18, TS=0). Note: LSU and Missouri also have TS of 0, but lose tiebreaker to OSU based on overall # of losses. Missouri wins tiebreaker over LSU for #3 spot based on CAR score of 10 vs. LSU's 13.2. Kansas is then #5, winning tiebreakers over OU and Georgia based on one loss overall (interestingly, though, they did not beat a ranked team, which was slightly discomforting to me in this ranking system). OU ranked #6 ahead of Georgia based on CAR score of 7.3 to Georgia's 16.5. Then USC at #8 ahead of WVU based on CAR score of 13 vs. 23. Finally, I'll put Hawaii in at #10, based mainly on pity and their undefeated season that included one ranked victory over mighty Boise State.
Sure, this method is not perfect, and is less sophisticated than an actual computer ranking, but I believe it is fair. However, when the actual BCS rankings come out, it will most likely be OSU #1 and LSU #2. In reality, LSU is superior to VT (they crushed them during the regular season), and Missouri is extremely flawed we all know, getting hammered twice by Oklahoma, but the ranking should be a composite of the "body of work" done by a team during the course of the season, and in this flawed system we have, getting beaten by unranked teams has to be weighted with equal importance as beating a ranked team. Hence, VT against OSU in the BCS National Title Game. Enjoy the dog and pony circus that shall now ensue!!!
