I'd like to see all traditions that merely exist for the sake of tradition done away with. They're pointless and based on old superstitions, yet they have the ability to govern what people do and what they expect.

Who's traditions are you referring to...I am a Native and strongly traditional...by preserving tradition you preserve culture...
If you are talking about traditions which are not mine but are of the Dominant Society then I would have to say the traditions that I would like to see done away with are already going to happen when America is taken down by its greed which is bringing about a global economic collapse.

The uk honours list because it rewards the wrong people for the wrong reasons.

The current system rewards people for making a few movies, singing a few songs, being a civil servant or an MP or just being rich and giving money to political parties .

There are so many people who give so much to others and make so much sacrifice in their lives, or do wonderful work for their community or save lives.

These are the people we should be honouring.

Our tradition of celebrating catastrophes, like the deaths of the unfortunate individuals of 911, Columbine, and Oklahoma City Federal Building bothers me. It seems by doing this we tend to encourage and draw attention to copy cats who want their fifteen minutes of fame.

Wearing real fur, well it's not really a tradition, but they did it in the cavemen days so I guess its a tradition. It's cruel and pointless when we have faux that is just as warm.

squabbling between conservatives and liberals... i think it's shameful to be hating eachother for basically no reason, other than that people think differently from you.
