‘Elegy for Brian (A Snail)’

Oh! Dear Brian! You passed away
On this now most grievous day;
You have left us, for your part,
A snail-shaped hole within our hearts
Oh! Brian! We shall miss you so,
We who watched your small life grow.

Oh! How swiftly you did slide!
With such elegance you did glide!
We watched you slither on and on
With such commitment, on and on;
Although you’re gone, we shan’t forget
Your talents, nor the day we met.

Friend, be not by grief undone
For, though our snail was stepped upon
He glides free now, free of fear,
In snail utopia, my dear

haha that's awesome!

you say your snail is heaven bound,
but i must disagree
i hear he drank, and women found
him a bit creepy.
And although he knew right from wrong
he never did his best
and when e're a woman came along
he'd ogle at her breasts

Such a lovely poem for a usually unlovely creature! Lucky Brian. I hope you turn your considerable talents to other, more worthy, subjects of affection and let them know your feelings.

It's great! It is funny and moving at the same time. I love your idea of calling the snail Brian.

Is it the French wine that makes the escargot p.c.. and whistle and walk or the poet penning the piece? lol i'm going to could use it as a metaphor to digest the tasty snail's tale.

That's a good poem.
Very sad, I could really feel the words.
You should see if you can get it published.
