We were in Vietnam during the Kennedy years, so, with that... we were there from 63 ish to 75 when Ford pulled all the troops and Saigon fell.
Should we have been more proactive in Vietnam, of course, our rules of engagement, were for a number of years less than they should have been. That's really when you could see the view of Americans for this sort of thing turn. Before that we were there to win, now we are thought to be there as targets.
It's time for all Americans to stand behind our government and call for victories where ever we are, whether you believe in the cause or not! If what happened in 1941 happened now... what would be the recourse? What would be the situation had we cut and run there?

Your answer is OK with me. I agree the US cut and run, largely because of Walter Cronkite and the liberal main stream media. The war was poorly managed from the beginning by Democrat Presidents who micro-managed it and tried to be politically correct by not crossing borders.
Many years after the war, North Vietnamese generals admitted they were about ready to give up, but fought on because of what went on in the media and the streets of the US.
I have gotten violation notices because I told people I liked their pictures. How bad is that?
