Is there a big difference in the speed between 2.6 and 2.8 GHZ. In a Pentium 4.

How much of a difference? I
'm asking because I'm planning to buy a computer and there's a 2.6 and 2.8 Ghz computers and the 2.8ghz is a expensier than the 2.6ghz.

Yes, but not much of one.

The 2.8 GHz computer will be faster but it won't be that much faster, if your needs are undemanding then you're unlikely to notice much difference.

Of course I wouldn't expect much price difference between a 2.6 and a 2.8 but if the 2.8 has better components in other areas that might make it a much better computer (it may have more RAM, a bigger hard disk, better graphics, etc).

If the price difference is small then go for the better one, if its more than say $30 I would say forget it. Now sometimes you will get more of other things with the upgrade as well like ram or hard drive.
