Put the old processor back in, update the BIOS and then put the new processor in.

Some motherboards made before the Core 2 came out need an update which you need to install using the original processor (so as to get it to boot) before you can actually use a Core 2 in it.

Usually when you desire to song the BIOS values, you ought to pres "esc" or "F12" in the course of the startup (wherein you spot the volume of reminiscence and many others). Be carefull even though. If you desire to replace your BIOS, application exist that may replace it immediately from home windows, the most secure approach to do a BIOS improve (flash) is to visit ou mainboard enterprise's internet site and down load the wanted equipment. Be certain that you're electrically risk-free, in case your comp is became off even as flashing, you'll say well bye in your mainboard... Since I see there's plenty of warnings I will provide you a trace : Modify something you desire, for you'll continuously return to the default values. BUT, if you do not know FOR SURE what you're doing, DON'T contact those : - Cpu surroundings (chiefly the voltage, you'll toast it) - IO settings - Anything with "frequency" or "voltage" in it (toeasting forward) - The CAS, RAS, RAS to CAS settings of your reminiscence. Also, although you reduce to rubble and cannot get to begin you comp, appear within the dealing with guide of your mainboard for the "reset bios" trick, you'll be able to ought to open you computing device, however it's going to repair the whole lot execpt when you've toasted some thing

I don't quite understand what did you buy but if there was a hardware change and the pc fails to load the bios than it's probably a hardware incompatability or a bad hardware installation ... On the POST (power on self test) the hardware is checked and than if problems appear the motherboard makes some sounds - small bips - try to see it that happens and look for the meaning of those bips ... If POST does not report no error than the bios should load with no problem ...

maybe try to re-load windows from a system restore disk. If you don't have one, then call the place where you bought the computer to get the 800 support number for the manufacturer where you can buy one. I got one for windows XP from support in India for $11 and it came fast. If it is a virus, wiping your computer and starting over should fix it. Then add an anti-virus/anti-spyware program like Norton Internet Security.

Or it could be maybe the motherboard is going out on you if the computer is over about 6 years old....?
