If you really need to express your sentiments, then yes.

Strikes are important in bowling if you want a 300 game.

They are important in baseball because a single game would continue forever if you couldn't strike somebody out. (who would want that)

Strikes are very important to workers because in many instances strikes are the only means to demand better working conditions and fair wages.

If people were not aloud to strike then there would be minimal repercussions for a company that wanted to abuse and neglect its workers.

Sometimes workers strike unfairly and demand things that hurt the economy and the company they work for but that doesn't mean that all those who strike do this.

America could not be the land of the free if wage earners didn't have an influential nonviolent avenue of expression to display their desire for change in their workplaces.

I don't like Unions period.

Few points to consider:

If every company was unionized it would be the same as if there were no unions. Except there would be dues and the cost of living would be higher.

Only time a union is needed is to break up a monopoly.

Unions interfer with the natural balance of supply and demand and set a company up for failure.

If you don't like the benefits where you work go somewhere else. If there is nowhere else with better benefits then that means you job must not contribute much to society. If it did people would pay you more and treat you better.

Depends on the company, and what the employees are fighting over.
If the company sucks, and need to change then there necessary. Alot of companies now are greedy bastards, at least here in the US, they are.
If the employees are not taking into consideration that the world is changing, and they cant always get the amount of money they want then its a waste. Global markets are changing business, unions dont always take that into consideration.

A strike is like a war. It's ugly, costly and should only be used as a last resort. But, sometimes you are at your last resort.

I'm in management. So, if my company went on strike I would have to cross the line. But, I was union for almost 15 years. I would never cross anyone else's picket line.

That might sound hypocritical. But, it is what it is.

Striking is a bit like blackmailing and I don't support that! When I think about Paris and November, all that comes to my mind are strikes...every year! I can't take the metro, I can't take the train, I can't take the plane (oops! they didn't go on strike this year!!) It just annoys everybody and it is not my fault when some people are unhappy! Why don't they talk, do more demos but let the normal civilians get on with their lifes! So, my conclusion is that striking is a selfish act!

Strikes are sometimes the only way to make someone listen and get the point across.

Sometimes they are necessary. Negotiation is better if possible because some bosses are pretty mean and as the old saying goes: paybacks are a b*t*h.

They're manipulative and generally hurt the people who ultimately support their careers in the first place-US!
They need to find a better avenue to obtain their needs being met.
