I don't, but my Colts fan friend does. I think its ridiculous but wanted to hear from others. Thanks.
BTW, I like Manning so this isn't an anti-Manning question.

In answer to king, I asked the question because when we were watching the Indy/SD. game, it came up. Tom Brady granted is a great QB but he wasn't brought up.

Good God, no. 'Joe Montana' is one of the names we football fanatics speak with an air of reverence. Peyton is nowhere near that level yet.

I will give Manning his due, though. He's a good quarterback, and somehow he's managed to find his way into every commercial on television. Not quite Montana's legacy, but he's getting there.

I think.

I don't think it's fair to compare Manning with Montana. Joe Montana was smooth and mobile and had a way of winning BIG games. Manning is not smooth (but his arm is a cannon), not mobile at all, and has a history of making bad plays under pressure. I believe he is also is 3 Super Bowls away from any association. Unfortunately, SB rings are the mark in today's society of a "great" football player. Given any comparison at this time, I'd say the better match would be Tom Brady (with the edge to Joe.)

Indy's OFF is on a soap bubble, meaning, Mannings is good as long as everything is going right. He isn't known for turning nothing into something. His play calling at the line is over rated, if it were that good everyone would do it.

Montana was ice, like Brady is today. He had mobility and toughness, but it took its toll in his later years, and it seems that is what a lot of folks remember about him. I would take Montana, Elway, Young, Graham, Unitas, Tittle, Tarkington, Akman, Brady, and maybe even Marino over Manning.

In his few short years, Tom Brady has proved himself as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. This year when he breaks atleast 3 quarterback single season records, will cap off his young career which he has yet to complete. Peyton Manning is coming out of his prime, and he didn't do much in his career, other than his rookie and 2004 years, and Brady's 2007 year will cap them both off. Did you forget the other part of it? Tom Brady has won 3 Super Bowls, so 3 rings and 2 Super Bowl MVPs. Peyton Manning has won 1 Super Bowl, so 1 ring and 1 Super Bowl MVP. Not to mention Manning has been in the NFL for 2 more years than Brady. Compared to 6th round 199th pick (in the draft) Brady, Peyton Manning is an upset for a 1st round 1st pick.

So let me ask you a question. If you're not even including Tom Brady in the equation, why would you compare Peyton Manning to the greatest quarterback of all time, Joe Montana? By the way, I don't think Brady has proved himself as great as Montana yet but in a few short years he will.

yes.Joe Montana had one the best offensive lines ever with S.F.but when he had an average line in K.C. his numbers sucked.Peyton has been putting incredible numbers up since he got to indy and didn't have the o line until the last few years but time will show that Montana was great but not the god people have made him.Peyton will finish with numbers far superior to Montana's.And if all you consider is super bowls then you don't know qbs.

Each is from a different era and each had and have great organizations behind them. I would give the edge to Manning for preparing for a game but for moxie on the field and rising to the occasion, Montana in a landslide.

No, Montana was and continues to be an exception to the rule in football. Payton has much work to do before he can be considered Montana like.
