I heard somewhere that it isn't necessary to remove your tampon before urinating if you've only had it in for a little bit and aren't ready to change it yet. The site I read it on was directed towards young women who've just started having periods (I'm not in that group, but was curious). It said that you just have to hold the string out of the way. I've always just changed it when I have to pee...but wouldn't it be nice to not have to? So, anyway, is that true or not?

Thanks guys.

I know to change it every 6-8 hours (I usually do more often than that because I'm worried about TSS and I also tend to have a heavy flow).

Oh, and the person who said tampons hurt when you sit down, I think you're using them wrong. If it hurts, then you haven't put it far enough in.

It's right, you don't need to change when you go to toilet, just hold the string out the way. You must get through quite a bit of tampons if you do that lol, plus if it hasn't absorbed much blood, thats way more difficult.

Well, I obviously would not know anything about this from personal experience. The reason why I am responding to this question is to apologize to both you, and the rest of the ladies who took your question seriously, for the vulgar and immature way the first two "gentlemen" (and I use the term VERY LOOSELY) responded in an insulting and immature manner! I was very embarrassed and offended that these guys took this as a locker room joke!

You don't need to change it since you don't pee through the vagina. It's better to change it when you need to.
Personally I hate tampons. Everytime I sit it hurts a lot!

no dont take it out EVERYTIME you pee, you should'nt have it in there more than 6-8 hrs depending on your flow. but if its the last 3 days of the period you can leave it in there the whole 6-8 hrs. stop taking it out everytime. you will save yourself some time, frustration and money!

It's true, you don't have to change it, just make sure the string doesn't get pee all over it because that is pretty gross. If it is coming out the other hole though, you should take it out.

It comes from a different [excuse the crudeness] hole!

depending on how often you urinate though you may want to go ahead and change it...just so its not in a long time. but you do not have to!
