Hi,

Just out of interest, I thought I'd ask peoples views on what they think the differences are between men & women mentally.

Don't worry, I do know the physical differences lol!

Wow, I think some people are taking this a little too seriously. It's just a light hearted debate about the differences of teh feamle and male mind.

It takes an extremely narrow minded person to say half of the population is superficial and willing to sell their bodies. I think anyone would agree with this point!

Women seem to prefer men that will hurt them physically and emotionally, and men end up being bad boys to try and be attractive. Its not a good system.

Three genders here:

1. Women = tend to make decisions based on emotion, when looking for a mate, they value STRENGTH first and foremost

2. Men = tend to make decisions based on facts & thoughts, typically show very little emotion (because we don't HAVE very much), value mostly companionship qualities in a mate

3. "guys" = NOT "men" (also known as adult little boys, grown up babies, or just plain idiots) think beer and TV are the meaning of life, make decisions based on their testicles, and value only outward appearance and one-night stands.

Unfortunately, many women SAY they "hate men" - when actually they hate the guys in group #3 above, and have never really even MET any "men".

There is scientific evidence that men and women's brain waves function differently and on different lengths, with the women being more complex, due to the natural instincts as a woman, wife and mother of the family. This is due to evolution and also has been put as an explaination why women are so much more emotional and use the power of communication to explain their problems (ie - the long phone conversations) while men prefer physical actions to let the steam out.

This is a scientifical question thus it's not about an opinion but facts.OK,so you know the physiological difference (or atleast the basic ones) but in general women are more careing, emotional and intuitive plus they have better verbal skills.Males are better with 3D objects and mathematics.Ofcourse women are much more superficial and more willing to sell their bodies but that's not due to physiology but simply society.

Women are the more emotional and nuturing beings of the two sexes. Women will consider the feelings of others, in business and personal affairs. Women seek connection.
Men are more direct and definitive. They are visual and it is easier for them to seperate their emotions from situations. Men are ego driven.
This is speaking in general terms because they are other factors that can contribute to how a man or woman perceives others or how they conduct themselves, like cultural upbringing, influences growing up and their level of self esteem.

could that count as gender difference?

i think gender is a role that society conceive a certain sex should carry. Like woman to be a mother, and man to become the bread-winner of the family.
Of course, they always based it on the characteristic difference, as woman soft and man hard.
I agree there's a difference in woman and man personality, but I found it as something given as our sexes are.
But gender, it's nothing but a social construction.

Depends on which discipline you look at it from - I think ie from a sociological point, biological point etc etc

i dont think there is much of a difference really. if you get past all the crap that people "believe" they should be because of their gender, you will find that most people have assimilated into their gender roles quite similarly despite the differences of those roles.

Women express, men hide.
Women admit, men deny.
Women look for the problem, men only know it isn't them.
Women want commitment, men want sex.
Women win, men lose.
