sorry to be negative, but I don't see it happening either..... this world's problems, mankind's battles, and the expenses required to fund such maneuvers seem too great to overcome for something like star-travel.... we've managed to get the money together to explore closer to home, but at what cost humanity-wise?..... every dollar we send out to space could have been used better here, if you want to see it that way..... of course, we'd not have a lot of the newer nice things we have, either.... but.. the future has to take care of more people with more needs than ever before and I'm thinking it will come down to keeping life going here before money is spent on a trip to the stars..... unless.... it's a 'seed the Universe' kind of thing because the rest of Earth is dying quickly...... and that feels like science fiction to me, too....

If we survive the next century or so without destroying ourselves, which is a big if, there might be a very slow spread towards other solar systems over thousands of years without us even realising fully what we are doing. We will gradually build settlements further away from the Sun and travel between them, until eventually we will be settling planetoids and otherwise building habitats which are more influenced by, say, the Centauri system. By the time humans are close enough to other stars to encounter actual planets, they may feel no connection with this solar system at all and maybe have no interest in where their ancestors came from. They will probably also have no interest in planets by then, except in an academic way as places that are interesting to visit. Maybe a few fringe communities will settle on them, but they won't be mainstream. There will be no terraforming but there might be pantropy.

If this happens, the societies will be post-scarcity anarchistic because that will be the only way the human race can survive the forthcoming ecological disaster, and there's no going back from that political system.

It is much more likely that we will either wipe ourselves out through environmental change or survive at subsistence level without space travel, or for that matter clean water or the ability to treat the various diseases to which almost everyone will rapidly succumb in early adulthood or childhood.

If humanity can just survive the next century then our future among the stars will be grand. It is quite possible for us to travel to other worlds. We just haven´t discovered any destination worlds yet and we don´t have the proper "infrastructure". If we survive long enough to make a foothold on an alien world then by the time the earth ends it will not make much difference for humanity. Earth will just be one out of thousands of worlds inhabited by humans.

I foresee the likes of Donald Trump building restaurants and hotels on other moons and planets. It should be a g-astronomic experience.

Our Milky Way Galaxy has cannabilized smaller systems and added to its collection, we now have over 235+ planetary bodies/moon in our own backyard.

i think we must first ask..What is humanity? well we are creators, destroyers, lovers, haters, and most of all problem solvers. competition is what we are best at now. it has brought us to this point and it will take us even further in life. competition between one source and another. but it is very limiting. for we only try hard enough to beat the competition and vice-versa. but once we unite and use our strengths towards the same goal, the possibilities are endless. then we will use our best qualities love, and creation to go from star system to star system creating as we were created. at that point we are not humans any more.. we are gods.

As I see it, Humanity has no determination yet to enhance into the cosmos. lengthy till now the solar or the Earth come to an end, we would have exhausted our materials. persevering with inhabitants issues won't in any respect end, and mom nature will proceed to create new plagues and illnesses to skinny us out. The nay-sayers will particularly element out that we are going to on no account attain yet another image voltaic gadget in a unmarried human lifestyles time with the aid of great distances in touch. This of path is basically historical past repeating itself. some hundred years in the past, we knew that the Earth replaced into flat, and everybody who reported in any different case replaced right into a lunatic. right this moment, all of us understand that we are on my own interior the universe. In some hundred extra years, i ask your self what number stuff we "understand" would be shown incorrect, and what new issues we've self belief all of us understand? Going to the Moon replaced right into a tremedous acheivement, and we pushed our wisdom and technologies to the limitations to prevail. We then reaped some great reward of that wisdom and technologies. If we circulate to Mars, we are able to as quickly as lower back see humanity upward thrust to the venture, and witness the evolution of recent technologies and push the limitations of our information of the universe. Wether the adventure is to discover new lands accross the sea, or to discover an entire new planet, that's the stressful situations that push us to be extra beneficial than we are.

In your dreams bloke and only in film - imagine just for a split moment in time, everyone alive at this moment in time will never see the future of star travel, we are prisoners on a very small rock being shot around an ordinary star, and on this rock too many people,

I was about to answer this when I read the previous answerer 'aleclove' and I thought what a pessimistic answer.
Of course no-one alive today will go to the stars unless they suddenly invent warp drive, but for heavan's sake let's have some vision and imagination.
To see us as stuck on this 'rock' as you put it, for ever, is ridiculously limiting and in my opinion, if you think about the next 1000 years, we can achieve incredible things.
Be positive!
