It will probably be intimidating at first, especially if you don't know any Japanese, but Tokyo is really cool. I suggest you start learning some Japanese now, simple phrases you will hear/use in stores and restaurants, words you will need to know for directions in case you get lost, things like that.

Please message me with more specific questions. I just spent 3 months in Japan and had a blast. I'm not 17, but I'm pretty close to that age and it was my first time abroad. I also did most of it alone! If you have any concerns, send me a message and ask questions.

Zippers zipped = no sex. hopefully you are smart enough to realize that..with ANYBODY.

which base? if Yokosuka, you will attend Kinnick High school. Famous Grads include Luke Skywalker. Most bases are at minimum 1.5 hours from Tokyo via train. depending on which housing you get however, you could in or near Yokohama.

all the bases on the Kanto Plain have wonderful opportunities and activities for teens. If you are into soccer Ikego Housing has a year round soccer program.

I think it doesn't matter so much about your parents and what you'll be doing as it does your looks.

Like, if you're fairly attractive, you'll find some nice friends and do a lot of interesting things.

If you're just a "Plain Jane"-type, then people will probably make fun of you, especially if you tell them that your father is in the military. The government supports the U.S., but the Japanese people themselves are fairly disappointed by the U.S. military right now.

Also, if you're good-looking, you can find a nice Japanese guy. A lot of them are shy, but maybe that's the kind that turns you on. Am I right?

If that's not your type, at your age, there are a lot of outgoing J guys too.

If I were you, I'd actually run away from your militaristic household and join a zen monastery or something.

Bon chance.
