I believe that people who focus on the teddy bear and do not see the reality behind this story are nuts.
The Sudanese government and the Muslim extremists want as many foreigners as possible out of the country. Their goal is to get rid of outside witnesses for their next round of mass murder and thus to escape persecution by international agencies. More intimidation against Europeans can be expected.
BTW this teacher has never been up for execution. You exaggerate like the Muslim extremists.
BTW2: many Muslims in Europe have protested against the lunatic behaviour of the Sudanese authorities. Some prominent British Muslims are in Sudan right now trying to get the teacher out of jail. I hope that many contributors on Y A will not forget this.

The Sudanese ARE the Muslims. They live in a completely isolated world, they know nothing about foreign culture, and they believe that any learning outside of religion is a waste of time.
