I think the BCS should not rank teams until the season is done and then name the top two teams based on what how they are currently playing, how strong is their schedule. and if they won their conference championship. The polls shouldn't matter. If they know you can't beat the #9 team and you're #1 in the media polls, they you shouldn't be #1 in the BCS.

The BCS is an absolute joke. If it works the way they have it set up, Georgia will play Ohio State. The Buckeyes with their weak schedule against the Bulldogs who finished 2nd in the SEC east. Georgia won't be the first team to go after not winning they're conference as Oklahoma did that and got trounced by USC. If LSU goes, they have a chance to get knocked out of the 1 or 2 spot for the 3rd time this year, but you can't take VA Tech over LSU since they were pounded by them, and you can't take undefeated Hawaii because a WAC team has to go undefeated 2 years in a row to be invited to a BCS game.
So you can't take the SEC champ, you can't take the ACC champ, West Virginia lost to Pitt and knocked the Big East Champ down, you can't take the Big 12 champ because Kansas has a better record, you may have to take USC.

Works better than other polls, which dealt with popularity also. There were split/two National Champs in previous years. This year will be controversial, but whatever is programmed into computer, e.g.= strength of schedule will decide #2 team to play against Ohio State? Without the BCS this year, there would be, undoubtedly, two separate choices for #1!

Conference champs should go to play off games to decide the # 1 team.
