A seasonal position type employer sent me a letter saying that due to the evaluation of my performance I will not be made an offer to come back. I am very surprised and I would like to find out what happened. What would be the easiest/best way to do that? Ideally I would like to see my performance evaluation and why I was "probably" considered "unfit" for the job.
I saw several questions on here about Freedom of Information act but does that pertain to private employers? I live in Alaska and this is a private not government employer.
Is the employer even if I ask required to provide me any information?(I saw this differs from state to state).
Definately good information would be helpfull and maybe some legal link.

well seasonal or not this was supposed to be my internship for when I apply for my first "real" job in my career. It doesn't go over very well if when you apply for a job full time out of college that the place you interned at would not hire you back supposedly because of performance issues.

You can ask but I don't believe they are obligated to tell you. Freedom of information applies only to government and public agencies, not private individuals and corporations.

No. I tell lies to my customers each and each time i circulate to paintings, infront of my colleagues and with the certainty and approval of my boss. in case you disapprove then you incredibly tell me the thank you to calm an eighty 4 three hundred and sixty 5 days old widow who's hysterical approximately getting abode with the aid of fact she had a sprint one the former day and her husband does not understand the thank you to look after it. My reaction to her is that she is staying with us to get nicely, she will have the potential to not be any solid to the little one if she is going abode and collapses and that i've got sent a nurse to aid her husband.

If you had a performance eval-wouldn't they go over it with you??? What's the purpose of a performance evaluation if you don't know what it says and especially if you are getting terminated over it???Any eval I have ever had-I signed a copy and received a copy. I think you are absolutely entitled to see YOUR evaluation.

Forget them and move on. They can't say anything derogatory about you legally anyway.

Seasonal at that? Nothing you need to change your name over and move out of town for.

Relax on that one...your reason for leaving on your resume?

"Unchallenging position...seasonal"
