If you simply want an identification of the main place with this name (as others are assuming), here is a basic dictionary entry:

"A city of northeast New Jersey on the Hudson River opposite Manhattan. Now a railroad hub and busy seaport, it was a resort and amusement center for New Yorkers before the mid-19th century. Population: 39,500."/'
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/Hoboken

But I'm assuming you're interested in what the NAME means, where it came from, etc.

There are two basic answers -- one based on Dutch, another on Lenape Indian. And there is some debate about which is original, as indicated in this entry:

"Often said to be a native name meaning "the smoked pipe," marking the spot where the first colonists smoked the pipe of peace with the Indian chiefs. It is more likely, however, a reminiscence of the Dutch village of Hoboken, three miles from Antwerp (in modern-day Belgium)."

If you adopt this conclusion -- the Hoboken, New Jersey was named after the suburb of Antwerp -- the original meaning would be "tall beeches", explained as follows:
"hoe/hoh" = "high, tall" (in fact, the English word "high" is a direct relative)
"boeken" = "beach tree"

Actually, the fuller name of the New Jersey city was "Hoboken Hackingh". A way to explain that? Take the second word as based on the verb for "cutting, slashing" (Germanic word related to English "hack"), used here to refer to a "clearing"

Thus the full name's meaning would be "tall beech tree clearing"

(1903 NY Times discussion)

Some, however, have argued from the other direction. And they DO have some ammunition, such as the fact that the place was NOT simply "Hoboken" but a longer name, as noted above. Why, if naming if for the suburb of Antwerp, would the Dutch and Flemish settlers have expanded the name in this way?

From the same 1903 series, another contributor argues in the OPPOSITE direction:
A) that the name is best explained from the Lenape-Indian "Hoboakan-hakink" meaning "at the tobacco pipe land"
It breaks down as: -nk = at haki = place, land; "hopo" = "he smokes" >> "smoking utensil"

B) as for the use of the Dutch name -- that would have been based on changed/corrupted form of the Lenape and, by "popular etymology" connecting it to a name already familiar to the Dutch, not simply in the city name, but also from a Dutch surname (indeed a head master of New Amsterdam at the time had the surname)

Hoboken

A town in Jersey that is less than ten minutes from New York City. The birthplace of Frank Sinatra, Hoboken features beautiful housing at a fraction of the cost as it's much larger neighbor. The majority of Hoboken's residents are young professionals, sometimes referred to as "yuppies."

Despite what the definition above says, very few, if any Hoboken residents speak with a "Jersey Accent" since the majority of it's residents are not originally from New Jersey.

What's that you said mister, you want to live in a beautiful community with a view of the New York City skyline? I recommend Hoboken!

Hoboken is the name of a city in Antwerp and immigrants to what is now the New Jersey area, named the city in memory of the place they came from. Just as New York memorializes York City, in England, New Amsterdam remembers Amsterdam, etc. I have no idea what it means in the commercial. Are you sure that's what she's saying?
