Yes, the points mean nothing
Though they would have to come up with some way of giving long term users extra questions/answers, and to limit new users
I would just hide the point levels from people profiles so that only the user themself can see them.

Yes it's still fun to read what others think and sometimes get good advice.
Sometimes its funny to see what some people ask.
