Luton.
Out of the airport, 2 min ride on the shuttle bus, 25 min train to Kings Cross Midland City.
Edit: Not one to normally do this, but 4 thumbs down *humph*
So, from the airport websites
Luton to London Kingscross 21 to 25 mins
Stanstead to London Liverpool Street 45mins
Gatwick to London Victoria 30 mins
Okay, there's not much in it, but the journey time from Luton is the quickest and in my opinion is the easiest Airport to use.
As for the comment about waiting times, this is public transport we're talking about. If you don't want the wait then get a taxi.
And for the rest of you, best you look at some maps and find out where Luton really is.
By the way, there is a large vibrant Irish community in Luton, if you get time, stop by for a pint.
For a skanky old town we know how to make our vistors welcome, could be why half of them don't seem to want to go home. ;o)

Luton, I find, is a bit of a pain. You need to wait for a shuttle bus to take you to the train station. Then you have about a half hour train journey into Kings Cross (but no idea how long you have to wait for the train).
I know Stansted is about a 45 minute train journey in Liverpool Street train journey. I don't know much about this airport as I have only ever flown from it once years ago.
I prefer Gatwick. The train station is easily accessible and is situated at the North Terminal of the airport. Trains take about half hour to Victoria train station.

They all take roughly the same time and are all served by trains into central London, or trains and Underground in the case of Heathrow; Heathrow is the fastest in that 'Heathrow Express' trains only take 15 minutes to reach Paddington Station; from the other airports the journey time to their London terminus is 30 to 35 minutes (45 mins from Stansted to Liverpool Street). If you are not using the 'Heathrow Express' from Heathrow and take the Underground, this takes around 50 minutes to reach central London.

I prefer Gatwick.
Stanstead is near Cambridge!
Heathrow is big and far out.
Gatwick has a fast regular train link to Victoria Station.
Luton, you have to spend 10 to 15 minutes in a bus to the station, freeze on the platform and take a train.
English people always refer to travelling, not waiting time. Don't expect a shuttle bus to leave just because you get on it.
Don't expect the train to arrive when you do.

Gatwick is the closest to the West End and South West London (Kensington, Chelsea, Knightsbridge etc). Stansted is in the middle of nowhere and Luton is about as far from London as you can be without being in Notingham. I would recommend Gatwick unless you particularly want to be closer to North London.

I don't know if there's much difference between them. From Gatwick it's about a half hour train journey to Victoria Station.
From Stanstead about the same time into Liverpool St Station. And the first reply you got tells us it's about the same length of journey from Luton.
You pays your money and takes your pick...
