Ok, here's the thing. When I was 18 I had to have an ovary removed because of a cyst. And when I was 21 I had the fallopian tube on the other side removed. My hubby and I really want to have a baby. Is it possible for me to get pregnant naturally? I mean, without any medical help? I can't afford artificial insemination or anything, and a surrogate is out of the question. Any ideas, comments, adivice?

Just to clarify - on one side I have an ovary, and on the other side just a fallopian tube.

I don't have a medical background, but from what I understand of the reproductive system, you will need medical help to get pregnant. The ovary is where eggs are stored until they are ready to be released. (Usually one is released each month.) The fallopian tube is the pathway the egg uses to get from the ovary to the uterus. The uterus is where the egg is fertlized and then implants itself to grow into a fetus.

If you have only a fallopian tube on one side, there is no chance any eggs traveling down it to your uterus. If you have an ovary on the other side but no fallopian tube, the eggs in your ovary have no way of getting to your uterus to be fertilized.

You will need to see a doctor to find out the details of the surgeries you had done. I am guessing that in order for you to get pregnant, you will need to undergo in-vitro fertilization. The doctor will have to remove several eggs from your ovary, fertilize them with your husband's sperm, and then implant them into your uterus. This can be expensive -- in the U.S., IVF averages about $12,000 per try. Each try has about a 35% success rate.

I know this will be difficult for you and your husband, but you need to talk to a doctor. Save up money for a doctor's visit or find a low-cost clinic in your area. (The low-cost clinics won't be able to offer fertility treatments, but they should be able to examine you and discuss your chances of pregnancy with you.) If you don't mind having a child that is not biologically yours, you may wish to talk with your husband about the possibility of adopting a baby. It could be much less expensive than repeated fertility treatments.

Sorry, but your chances are close to nil

Without the falopian tube to connect toe ovary to the womb, the egg cannot meet the sperm.
On the other side, without th eovar, there is nothing to transport.

I'm afraid short of medical intervention or a miracle you're best option might be to adopt . . .

Sorry, but that's my "non pro" opinion . . . Just a TTC father that's been reading up and still remembers SOME biology from school days

Seen a shark whilst browsing? Yes, at all times. I are living and surf in Central Florida in which each yr we customarily have practically part of the entire pronounced assaults on this planet. Scared? Not rather, simply wary. I used to be "hit" over thirty years in the past. Leash snapped on a double+ overhead day at Monster Hole. While swimming in, within the center of the "gap", one got here as much as style me. My correct foot used to be kicking up and it sliced the backside of my foot. The shark went a technique and I went the opposite in the direction of the seaside. Around right here the Bull is the quantity one to be careful for. They are very competitive. I've under no circumstances obvious one in-shore, however we do have the occasional 12+ foot Tiger.
