Greatest moment in NFL history would go to Jerry Rice for most career tds receiving, most yards, and being the best ever at the wide receiver position. Emmitt Smith for most yards as a running back, and Steve Young's performance in the Superbowl against the Chargers.

Saddest moments in NFL Sean Tayler's murder, Darrent Williams Murder, The Patriots defensive lineman who drowned, Bill Walsh dying of cancer, all the struggling retired NFL players who's pension is a joke and are in constant pain, the cover up of Pat Tilman's being killed and then the Government covering it up, and not being able to chose which team you would like to be able to watch every Sunday instead of being forced to see what's in your local market even though you're in a state with no football team.

I agree with almost every saddest moment already said, but most of those are events that took place off the field, so I'll go with on the field history (which is a small time frame because I'm not old enough to remember anything before 1992)
As a Broncos fan the greatest moment for me was John Elway running for the first down in 1997 against the Packers in the Super Bowl (the helicopter play) and the saddest moment was when Terrell Davis had his knees destroyed and couldn't run anymore
I'm also a Bucs fan, so the greatest moment on that side was Ronde Barber's interception return for a TD on Donavon McNabb that iced the 2003 NFC Championship game and sent the Bucs to the Super Bowl

80's. Most of the greatest players in NBA history, whether at their peak, declining, or upcoming, played in this decade. The 80's was, of course, the era of Bird, Magic, Isiah, Moses, Dominique who were the top dogs at that time, as well as talented players like James Worthy, Kevin McHale, Bernard King, the troublesome Micheal Ray Richardson, Adrian Dantley, Alex English, Clyde Drexler, Sydney Moncrief, Mark Aguirre, Tom Chambers, among others. But the 70's greats, e.g. Kareem, Dr. J, George Gervin, David Thompson and Artis Gilmore, were still there and competing at the top level. Then came the batch that would dominate the 90's led by Michael Jordan, Hakeem, Barkley, John Stockton, Karl Malone and Patrick Ewing. In short, this decade saw the fusion of 3 eras so it just teemed with incredible talent.

Aside from untimely deaths off the field the worst on the field moment for me as a fan was when the Original LT Lawrence Taylor hit Joe Theismann, and broke his leg out the back side!!!! if you watch ut you can tell by LT reaction that something was VERY wrong. Now as a raiders fan my teams worst moment was the game in the snow against NE!!!! Now I really don't have a best but I would have to say that I was so happy when Jerome Bettis got his super bowl championship with the 05 steelers he really deserved it!
