this classic horror cult was directed by the grandissimo Mario Bava (1914 -1980).I have met his son Lamberto Bava in Europe, what a nice man he is...I thought, if I were a script writer, I would surely do a remake of my past time favorite film.

is it a god idea? ths for your reply

I fell in love with the Bavas world of giallo Horror, when I was 17, it was just because of his excellent camera´s work, excellent lightning, his whole unque stories and his heavy machoism (when the victim must be killed very soon in his movies).

...to this day, even after repeated viewings, the segment of "Black Sabbath", entitled "A Drop of Water" still chills me right to the bone, and invokes a most restless night of sleep, each and every time; however, I really must admit that I would be hard-pressed to imagine a well-intentioned remake of "Black Sabbath", coming even close to the visceral and gothic intensity of the original...

...I'm of the opinion that some films should be left alone, to stand on their own merit; "Black Sabbath" is definitely one such film. Thanks to Imagine Entertainment's initial DVD release of the film (...and subsequently, Anchor Bay Entertainment's recent re-release), I have recently been privvy to the original Euro-cut of the film (...with the stories shuffled around, a bit), but I must candidly admit, the imported English-dubbed version of the film, DOES have it's charm...

...however, I WOULD entertain the notion of seeing a contemporary rendition of "Black Sabbath", with different stories produced and rendered in the same gothic and chilling style as the original film. in fact, it would be most interesting to see Lamberto Bava tackle this prospect; it wouldn't have been the first time he was inspired to homage his father's classic work, as result of his (...still unreleased) 1989 film, "La Maschera del Demonio"...

Re-Makes are always bad ideas. C'mon look at how many crap remakes have come out in recent years. Mario Bava is definitely one of the best. People always compare atmospheric movies to Argento, but he got allot of it from Bava.
