Personally I feel Final Fantasy X was better, yes it was very linnear in it's gameplay but the story was awesome and you have to love seymour guado. I always felt there was room for a Final Fantasy X-3, there were some loose ends with the Aeons, they could have made a return and maybe a faction trying to resurrect sin or seymour.

X was better if you like plots. X-2 was really fun though as well just a lot more light hearted than X.

Well if you really want to know which is better you should play Final Fantasy X, it is the first between the two, better graphics, you will actually know what is going on in the story rather than skipping to X-2.
Some Pro's from FFX-2 is
-You can use Aeons
-More characters, variety and powers
-Better bosses
-Grids that allow you to have characters learn certain abilities
Square Enix has not discussed having an X-3 since the reason they made X-2 was because of the ending loophole.

Eh, I like them both equally. If you want to know which people like more because you want to buy one of them, then I'd say play X-2 if you played (and enjoyed) FFX, and FFXII if you haven't played FFX (or didn't enjoy it.) Personally, I would recommend FFXII more. It's a long game with a HUGE world to explore with a deep and involving story. There's all sorts of plot twists that are fun, but some are predictable. FFX-2 is a very... Well, the game isn't all that serious. The cast is living in a world where they are finally free from Sin, a monster who was immortal, destroyed cities and killed people. Of course, the characters are still enjoyable, especially the "male counterparts" for the girls (Baralai, Gippal, and Nooj.) Also, if you're a guy who likes girls in skimpy clothing at all times, FFX is the way to go. FFXII only has Fran in little clothing. Just saying.

Yeah, from my own experience. FFX is better than FFX-2, maybe this is due to the fact that it is the first ever Final Fantasy to adopt the "open development" of the characters via the sphere grid. I say open development becoz previous FF puts u'r character to only one way of developing it, i.e FF9, zidane is a thief and shall stay that way, in FFV, u can change the development by changing jobs but still u have to change jobs.. :p
plus, it's funny when u see Yuna did a 99,999 damage with her nirvana haha..
and i dun think there should be any FFX-3, becoz "don't fix what is not broken".. FFX and FFX-2 is near perfect, no need to put another plot in it. People tend to get bored. The only reason they put up with FFX-2 is becoz of the ending in FFX...

My favorite is X-2 since it continues from the FFX version, and it has more in depth footage, too.

They're both good. FF:X is better but u should buy X-2 after u finish X
