everyone get together and and go a week without buying anything to try to stop the rising cost of essential items? i mean 5 bucks for a gallon of milk? 3 bucks for a gallon of gas? paying for overpriced lead ridden toys that can harm our children? i think it would be a great idea to boycott all businesses for atleast a week and if everyone got to together and stuck to it it might make a difference

When they try to do this with gas, even if people do pick a day or two and boycott it usually evens out because everybody buys more the day before or after.

Not to mention you are never going to be able to get everyone to agree on a date and adhere to it. Not to mention there are families that can't exactly go without certain neccesities for a week or more.

Sure, go ahead and ruin the U.S. economy. You will only close stores down with this plan of yours. That means thousands of people unemployed. Like it or not, retail operations account for a good chunk of the economy. The people employed in the retail sector also have bills to pay and food to buy.

Retailers are in competition with each other. Shop around for the best prices. If you do not like the practices of the store (paying women less than men, not offering benefits to employees, etc) then shop elsewhere. If you do not like the quality of the products offered, do not buy them-retailers will pay attention if their inventories are not selling.

Boycott products from China and other countries that have unsafe standards of production. Sweatshops will exist until they can not sell the products made in sweatshops. Lead and other contaminatants will be put into toys, pet food and other items until we refuse to buy the items.

It wouldn't do any good. First of all, it would be very difficult to get enough people involved so that it would be noticable to the businesses and second, you eventually would have to go shopping and the stores would just wait you out.

Most of the increase in prices that we're seeing reflect the increase in gas prices. All items must be transported to the stores and they add on the gas increase to the price of the food and products.

it rather is costing greater to get those products on your shops - transportation is a huge-unfold area. all of us could desire to be united and characteristic each and every week the place all and sundry stops each and every thing and remains homestead - no artwork - no using - not something. This contains the trucking community. Our government needs to understand that this occasion is turning out to be worse and the final guy or woman can not locate the money for to circulate on like we've been.

The problem with boycotts for goods you have to have (food, gas) is that you still buy them, just not for a few days.

So, the net affect is NOTHING.

Yes, it is bad now, but hang on to your hats (and start stocking up with every dime you can squeeze) because it is only going to get worse.

Do you expect people to do this during the holidays? What about the children?
