Is there a way I can tell the difference between a synthetic and a natural bristle makeup brush?

I've accumulated quite a few and can't remember which is which.

i was going to say "price", but seeing that you have them already, i would say touch them. plastic feels differently than natural hair.

In my opinion the synthetic are more coarse and plastic coated feeling... they are shiny too compared to the natural. Natural is softer.
