I want a Sprint PCS wireless card for my notebook. But I am clueless on what this is. They have 2 plans. One that's unlimited usage and one that has 40 MB monthly usage. How do I know how much I'm using?

Go with the unlimited.
40 MB or 40 Mega Bytes not to be confused with Mb which is Mega bits, if you surf the net a lot I would not go with the 40 MB plan.
8 bits=1 byte
1000 bytes = 1 KB (Kilo Byte)
1000 KB = 1 MB (Mega Byte)
1000 MB = 1GB (Giga Byte)

Think of a byte as a single character, like the letter "A".
There are 1024 bytes in a kilobyte. There are 1024 kilobytes in a megabyte (MB). 40mb is 41,943,040 characters. Some web pages contain a lot of data and would use up the 40mb faster than others. Having a limitation could be very costly if you exceed the limit. But if you don't surf the web much using the card it may be more cost effective. It all depends on your surfing habits.

40 MB a month would be pretty small... the average youtube video is about 5-10 MB....

So unless you were only checking email a couple times a day, it wouldn't be good for much more than that...
