The most secure way would be with VPN software. But if you don't want to go through that hassle, you can open what ever port you need for remote access on your firewall (ex: 3389 for remote desktop). If you don't wish to configure a firewall, you can use a little application called Hamachi. It's pretty simple to set up, and secured with a password.

This is a very trixie question.
You will need to configure both ends of the chain.
It would help if we knew the specs of the office server, and what kind of interactions you want to have with it via network.

There are solutions out there like logmein.com and gotomypc,

Also if you are running a firewall (and most likely you are) you will need to set passthrough for the ports that will be used.

Let us know what kind of machines, what OS and what you wnat to do by remote control.

Window's built in RDP is the best. (RDP = Remote Desktop Protocol) The computer being accessed needs windows XP pro though. I'm not sure which version of Vista has RDP.
