Hitler's first career attempt was as an artist, a painter. But the Art Institute of Vienna - or whatever school it was that he applied to for admission - wouldn't accept him.

With regards to his becoming a politician, it was more an evolution, than any chanced event. It was his oratorical ability, that first drew him to the attention of those, who then furthered his career in the political arena. In that way, one might say it was a chanced event(s) that propelled him into the national spotlight; or more correctly, a series of "chanced events"?

After his failure to become an artist, he entered the army; and there achieved some success, becoming a corporal during WW I.

Following Germany's defeat in WW I, their whole society was in an upheaval; and the foundling group that later became the Nazi party, attracted him to them, because of their radical nationalism. In trying to gain adherents for this group, Hitler took to "stump speaking": in other words, the proverbial "soapbox": a street corner, park, railroad station, wherever, and his newly discovered talent for raising crowds and influencing them, were the roots from which issued his renown, that ultimately led to the chancellorship, and then the dictator of all Germany.

Hitler didn't plan to be in politics until late in his life.
He tried to be a landscape painter early in life, but was rejected by a prominent art school and turned to house painting. He then went into the military during WWI and distinguished himself.
By his own account (in Mien Kampf), it was only as he sat wounded in a hospital when he learned that Germany had surrendered, did he start to have political leanings. Like many in the military, he believed that Germany could still win the war (after all, they were only a few miles from the French capitol of Paris). Hitler blamed the Jews and others for causing Germany to lose the war.
Later he would fall in with others who felt the same way (on the far right of the German political spectrum) and eventually into the National Socialist Party.

Hitler was 'fate' played out. Think about this! If not for the Nazi's & their treatment of Jews, the state of Israel would not exist today. An event predicted in the Bible(the return of Israel). Not saying I advocate the bible...only that some things are 'fate'.

I heard that Hitler was attracted to drama, but he was rejected because he wasn't talented person. He got piss off and went to the military. As you know, he did very good at military and he got promotion in that career.
