I love a good storm! There is just something so very primitive and thrilling about standing outside and watching the storm come in, with lightening and thunder crashing all around. Dangerous, too, I suppose.....As I get older, (and a little bit smarter, I hope) I don't actually stand out IN it anymore, I retreat to the relative safety of my porch, but I still love it! And when the rain is coming down in the summer, sometimes I stand out in it and get soaked to the skin, I feel really clean to my bones and renewed afterwards.

Odd but it seems that storms are different now than they were when I was a kid. I used to love to sit in my bedroom window and watch the far off lightening. Now the storms are intense and over quickly.
One spring about 3 yrs ago we had terrible storms and tornado watches and warnings. One night it was lightening constantly for about 20-30 minutes. This was what is called ''sheet lightening'' I lights up the whole sky but you cannot see a lightening bolt. It just would not stop. I am 53 and have seen this only once.
Be careful standing out in those storms. A young girl was killed last year while standing on a porch during a storm. Lightning struck a tree and extended out to her.
I also know a lady who was looking out her window during a storm and lightning hit a tree, split the tree until it hit a knot in the tree and then bounced off and hit the woman in the window throwing her across the room. She did not die from this.

I sure do. When I was very young (and that was a long time ago), my grandfather and I would sit on the porch and watch the approaching thunderstorms, and when it got close enough, he'd say we have to go inside now. He taught me to respect it. I've never been scared. The last really good storm I remember here was in 1996. It stormed every day for almost a week. I loved it! :o)
The weather is so messed up now, we don't get them anymore. Not even snow; in the southeast, and supposed to be the city of four seasons.

I was terrified of storms all of my life until maybe 6 years ago. I don't get so frightened anymore unless the wind starts blowing until the trees bend over then I'm scared for sure.
