I want to be able to shutdown my sons laptop with my laptop. We are on the same wireless network, and I have his username , IP address and everything. But when I try to find his computer. (Name Frank.), it says network path not found. I also tried various programs and Computer Management tool. None have worked. Does the remote shutdown feature work with only the fact that you are on the same network? (Network is secured)

why don't you try a simple program like VNC. that will help you can remote connect to his PC and shut it down. you can only use that command if you are on his PC or ssh to his PC. get vnc its free. http://www.realvnc.com

that will solve your problem, also if you give his PC a static IP address that will help you find his PC always. if you need more help feel free to email me
