oh also... pz consider admissions rate. Both are iffy schools for me. (whichever is easier to get into would be better)

Why if money is no issue can you only apply to one?!

Both are good for physics. I believe Carnegie Mellon is better for varied states and computational physics. Cornell is probably better for astrophysics and particle physics. Cornell, being an Ivy League is more elusive but CMU is probably then easier to get into. Both are prestigious though, and you can go just about anywhere for grad school if you do well in either.

My best advice is to go to their sites and read about them... admissions as well as what kind of research they have and facilities and if undergrads get much research there. Go to www.princetonreview.com to compare admissions rates but be sure to go to their actual sites as well.

Personally I have a love affair with Cornell.

i'm applying to cornell as well for east asian studies and econ.. i think i would like the atmosphere of cornell.. and i've never met anyone who went to carnegie mellon soo.. yeah.. pretty lame answer.. but.. CORNELL!!

They're both good

Cornell is in a more rural area.
