I have an 8800 gts and I love it! I want to know if it would pay to get another one? I don't mind the $300 that it'll cost, Im just curious if it will boost my performance significantly enough to make it pay. I want to be able to play Crysis on max settings and the other graphic intensive games too (I sound kinda greedy but it's important to me, not even for bragging rights). I've read and seen reviews and benchmarks but I haven't heard anyone elses opinions on it. My computer is more than able to handle it too if I went through with this.
Thanks!

There are improvement, but not 2x improvement. Much less than that.

That's because while rendering load is split between 2 cards, the master card will need to wait for the slave card to finish its calculation so that the master card can put together all the data to form the final output image. The transfer of data between master to slave and back to master takes time.

So the ulitilization is not 100%.

Still, nevertheless, if you need extra performance now and are willing to spend money on it, go ahead, you'll get that extra performance. Just don't expect 2x performance, like for example, if your crysis now run at 20fps, it will not magically jump up to 40fps.

But the thing that does becomes 2x is your power consumption and heat dissipation

If you're not in a hurry, why not wait for next gen video card, GeForce D9E. Next year Q1 should see this card being release.

well those cards in sli have very good benchmarks......but when ya get to the real world of intensive gaming another 300 spent, your not gonna notice anything earth shattering thats for sure......sli is over rated imho........it would be a minimal gain, not worth 300 to me......but its up to you.........one card is enough i think...
