Why do people treat Nelson Mandela as if he were a god?

because they are what the communists call usefull idiots. mandela was a communist terrorist in south africa. he murdered many innocent women and children, and he was imprisoned when he was caught on his way to bombing some innocent people. americans are just too gutless to say anything against any black person. mandela was nothing but a scumbag all his life

Because he is the most honest statesman of the 20th century.
After opposing the apartheid regime for most of his life and being imprisoned and tortured by them for many years, he did not seek revenge when he came to power but he sought reconciliation.
He was big enough to realise that his personal feelings were less important than the welfare of the whole country both black and white.

Because he has done positive things to make a difference and make it better for others. That is considered godly, therefore people treat him as such.
