As you now know, there are plenty of vegetarian athletes. As vegetarianism becomes more mainstream, there will be more. Carl Lewis, the runner, has said that switching to a vegan diet brought his performance to a new level.

Danielle's belief that meat-eating is essential for health or muscle growth is simply a myth. A very common myth. Protein is abundant in plant foods. Vegetarians who eat a balanced diet get plenty of it. In fact, most Americans get too much protein, and get too much of it from meat. There is a direct correlation between meat consumption and disease. If "too much protein" is an unfamiliar concept to Danielle or anyone else, it's because the meat industry has a powerful PR apparatus and has used it for many decades to influence government food policy and public perceptions.

i really doubt it. meat has proteins which are required to build muscle, which is necessary to be a successful athlete. having a proper, balanced diet is one of the keys to their success.

ever notice how true vegetarians are skin and bones? lacking healthy muscle
