Yeah I cried so hard I could barely breathe. I was like 7 years old, and I thought my mom left me at the mall. I was just being stupid and didn't look 2 feet away from me.

Yes..but it is really over breathing. It feels like you can't breathe. What got me to that point was my divorce and my problems with my daughter and trying to save her life from drugs, drinking, bulimia and running away. I sobbed uncontrollably.
When my Mom died I cried so hard that I slumped over my bed and passed out.

I became very saddened by a relationship that ended. I thought all of my dreams had been killed and that I would never be happy again. My heart was broken and crying was all I could do for a while. Really it was more like sobbing in anguish, not just normal crying, and I did have trouble breathing.

Me too, when my mother died... I cried really hard but the point that I cried so much that I couldn't breath was when my boyfriend slept with his ex gf on the day of my mom's funeral!... His excuse was, that I was too occuppied arranging the funeral and all, spending too much time with the family :S

Yes, I have. It happens sometimes when I'm very, very stressed and crying is the only way to get that stress out. It also happened once when my husband and I nearly separated. We were talking divorce, and I felt as though my heart was being ripped into pieces. Luckily for us, we worked through it with counselling and really communicating to one another.

A man I thought I loved broke my nose and left me in a strange city where I didn't know anyone! I was only 17 then...I don't cry like that anymore! I also don't let men hit me anymore! How about you? What made you sob?

Yes, knowing that something cherished was being torn apart is what brought me to that point. For instance, when people die, or when you might see a loved one going through a horrific tragedy. Watching a child be taken from their family, when that child might happen to be your own. (this one didn't happen to me, just saw it happen to someone else, yet I was crying for them as well)

It's like a horrible flu that you can't shake off. The only way you can get over it is getting rest, having support from friends, and having sanctuary.
