my grandson was not planned! he is a pill/antibiotic baby! daughter is going to paramedic classes! yes she gets help for him! she lost her job after having him, she tore up her ankle during delivery and had to have surgery! she worked at a hospital and they told her if you can not come back by a certain date, then you are fired! she was under a surgeon's care! she is on the WIC program, that is 10 cans of formula, 2 boxes of baby cereal a month! then she get some food stamps to buy baby food with! where do you get they are rewarded?! her father and i have spent all of our savings trying to provide for them! the father of the baby didn't pay a penny for the first 4 1/2 months! he didn't think he should pay to be able to see his son, that is what his mother told him! his parents have not contributed a penny toward this baby either! maybe a t-shirt or a bib! so how dare you say these girls are being rewarded! why do the men get off so easy? it does take two to make a baby! and by the way i have paid taxes longer then you probably have been alive! so therefore i am getting to use some of my taxes to pay for my grandson's formula! also my husband was let go from his job while on sick leave, and he can not get assistance because we have too much! work all you life and try to have something and then get sick and you can not get help!
so this is why my daughter is getting the help she can! so do not think all unmarried women are getting rewarded! have you tried being on welfare or any help programs? it is very degrading at time when people look at you and think, trash!!! so it is not rewarding the unmarried mother, it is providing for the child! maybe you should learn to have compassion for those that need the help!
if you are doing well in school, then you are being rewarded! and be glad you have a job to pay the taxes!

SO I GUESS BY SHE IS BEING REWARDED, SHE WORKED HARD AS A CNA, PAID TAXES, AND GOES TO SCHOOL!

Even if you want to break things down to the most rudimentary cost benefit analysis it still makes good public policy to help single, young parents of children with financial issue.
Our tax system is a system that takes a percentage of everyone's pay. Meaning the more money you make, the more money you pay into taxes. Taxes are critical into running any government. The more people who make more money, the larger the fund for taxes becomes. If people are not afforded the proper amount of education to go to school, because they are not being supported by their parents, or for any other reasons. Statistically they will earn less money every year. Therefore give less to the tax base. However if the government subsidizes education and some other expenses that are needed for basic life then they will have a better chance of acquiring skills that will enable them to become higher paid members of society. Also considering the enormous expense criminals put on the government's budget, in terms of police, prosecutions, jails, and post jail monitoring. If the chances of these people committing crime is reduced, that could be an enormous tax burden avoided.

So if you want to take a purely financial look at this, consider each child an investment, that if the government invests in early could get a greater return.

Because are society seems to be gears toward entitlements. People believe they are entitled to this and that. And as each day goes on they believe they should get more. People complain about health care. Heck think back 20 years ago, what did Health care look like then. People didn't get all the preventative screenings they are seemingly gauranteed today. No flu shots, no this no that. What don't realize how far we have come. Heck some plans even cover domestic partners. My point is this, people complain everyday, and say they are being vitimized by the government if they don't get this or that, and the politicians want to make em happy and get their vote. Our system is truely broken. We always seem to turn the other cheeck because it's not our money or we are not the ones doing it. But it is our money, and by not speaking out, we are allowing it to happen. Now without starting a debate, I never did understand how people with children get EIC tax credits. Where is my credit for not bringing someone into this work. Having a child is a responsibility. It should be choosen. So getting any tax break is not fair, but it is probably in place because so many people benefit from it that, they wouldn't possibly question it. But what if it was reversed, what if the gov only have that credit to people without kids...would it be fair then? No. Women having kids out of wedlock is a choice. We should not have all these programs that seemingly make is simple for people to make the wrong choice. Wic, wellfare, eic, foodstamps, etc etc etc. How much does it really cost? We need to start supporting a reduction in entitlements. Plain and simple. Whatever it is in the system you dislike, I bet a handout, freeby, or entitlement is too blame. Pay to much taxes...guess why.

hey, i got pregnant when I was unmarried and the only government help I got was $300 dollars to pay for my GED test, then i went and got a job. I think that the extent of government assistance should be a couple boxes of food a month, financial aid for education and low cost housing and babysitting so that young mothers can work. I would have done fine with that and i was just as young and just as broke as some of the lazy teenagers that get welfare.

If they do not wish to put the man down on the paper work. They do no recieve help from the government. Also, once a man is put on the paper work as the father. The state goes after him for child support. If the father says he is not the father, he is offered the test at his cost if he is the father. If he is the father after its all said and done, then the state goes after him for child support while helping the lady until the so called dead beat dad can do his job.

Those kinds of public programs are for the CHILDREN, not the parents. What do you propose, tell the six month old baby to get a job?

Blessed virgin births! Are you saying they got pregnant by themselves, or that the fellows who got them pregnant are the virtuous ones?
Also, what do you mean by "rewards?"
